BiteSoon Privacy Policy

Effective August 11, 2026

BiteSoon is private by design. Version 1.0 has no account, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, developer backend, or CloudKit sync. The developer does not collect your inventory data.

Data on your device

Food names, quantities, locations, dates, notes, saved barcode strings, use/restock history, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple frameworks.

Camera and barcodes

The camera is used only while you open the barcode scanner. Recognition happens on-device. BiteSoon matches scanned strings against codes you previously saved; it does not upload frames or query a global barcode database.

Notifications

If you grant permission, expiry reminders are scheduled locally from dates you enter. You can disable them in BiteSoon or iOS Settings.

Purchases

Apple processes BiteSoon Pro purchases. The app reads verified StoreKit transaction status to determine whether the lifetime entitlement is active. Apple’s privacy policy governs Apple’s processing.

Backups

Pro users may explicitly export a JSON backup through Apple’s system file/share interface. Import is available to everyone for a selected file. You control the destination and are responsible for the privacy of exported copies.

Retention and deletion

Local data remains until you use Delete All Local Data in BiteSoon Settings or remove the app. Exported backups remain in the destination you selected until you delete those copies. Deleting local data does not cancel or erase Apple’s record of a BiteSoon Pro purchase, which remains restorable through Apple.
